Why a Smoke Alarm
On average, the fire brigade has to respond to 1 in every 1,000 homes in the Netherlands. Each year, 600 to 700 people are seriously injured in house fires. To protect yourself against fire, it is essential to install smoke alarms in your home. If a fire breaks out, you will be warned in time.
Interconnectable Smoke Alarms
It may happen that you do not hear a smoke alarm when it goes off on another floor. For example, are you vacuuming with a lot of noise or playing music loudly? It is important to hear the alarm immediately. That is why we recommend using interconnected smoke alarms. When one alarm goes off, all connected smoke alarms will sound. Installing Smoke Alarms
We always recommend installing at least one smoke alarm on every floor. Consider placing them especially in a hall, corridor, stairwell, and in children’s bedrooms or other bedrooms.
We do not recommend installing smoke alarms in your garage, kitchen, or bathroom. Heat detectors and gas detectors are better suited for these areas.
